Crews battle fire at Smith's grocery store
North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The North Las Vegas Fire Department was called to a fire at about 10 p.m. Saturday at Smith's grocery store at 2255 E. Centennial Parkway.
When crews arrived, firefighters discovered the trailer of a tractor-trailer truck was on fire and heavy smoke was entering the grocery store. All customers and employees were evacuated.
The trailer was full of cardboard boxes, making it difficult for firefighters to enter the structure.
The North Las Vegas and Clark County Fire Departments were able to contain the fire in about an hour. It caused minor exterior damage to the building and extensive smoke damage to the interior of the store.
Firefighters were on scene until 4 a.m. to make sure the fire was completely extinguished.
There were no reports of any injuries.
The store is closed by the fire department and health district until it is deemed safe to reopen.
