Pedestrian killed in crash, driver arrested for DUI
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A Las Vegas woman is dead and another person is in critical condition after they were hit by a vehicle while walking.
It happened just after 11 p.m. Saturday on Craig Road, just west of Las Vegas Boulevard.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says a Nissan Xterra was traveling west on Craig Road in the right travel lane. Two pedestrians were crossing Craig Road, not in a marked crosswalk.
Police say, as the pedestrians crossed, they went into the right travel lane and were both hit by the Nissan.
Both pedestrians were taken to University Medical Center Trauma. A 58-year-old woman from Las Vegas died from her injuries. Her name has not been released.
The other pedestrian, August KunKel, 54, of Las Vegas, is in critical condition.
The driver of the Nissan, Regina Thomas, 38, of North Las Vegas, was arrested for misdemeanor DUI and booked in Clark County. The passenger in Thomas' vehicle was not hurt.
This is the 45th traffic related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2012.
