Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The investigation continues after an elementary school student told school officials that his family members were dead at home on Monday.
It started when a boy went to class at Hoggard Elementary School and told staff members that his mother and sister had been killed.
School officials alerted the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, and officers immediately responded to the home on Robin Street near Washington and Rancho.
There, they found a woman and a girl murdered inside the home.
Police also found a severely injured man and an uninjured 4-year-old at the residence.
Neighbors say the family has lived in the area for a while, and were shocked to hear of the brutal deaths.
Lucinda Jackson, who lives nearby, said she heard booming sounds inside the home on Monday morning, and speculated it could have been gunfire.
"There's nothing that indicates to us that there's a killer on the loose," Police spokesman Lt. Jay Rivera said. "We'd be the first to come out if we had any evidence that there was someone out here killing people."
Despite believing the killer is not at large, police said they do not have a suspect or person of interest in the case.
