New Sun City Summerlin fire station will get a rescue unit
Summerlin, NV (KTNV ) -- An update for those living in Sun City Summerlin. Turns out a rescue unit will be at the new fire station there.
Residents had heard that might not be happening. Concerned over response time, they contacted Action News.
But Las Vegas Fire and Rescue said with some help from other officials, they were able to allocate the resources to put on there.
Residents learned the news last night at a meeting.
"They were pretty excited I think to hear they were going to get a rescue in their area which is important to that community," said Fire Chief Mike Myers.
Now they still have to man that rescue unit and don't have an exact time frame on when the training will be complete.
So when the station opens in June, the rescue unit won't be there right away. But the chief says the engine unit will be.
