Vermillion hospitalized after suicide attempt
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Contact 13 has learned former Henderson city councilwoman Kathleen Vermillion tried to kill herself last week.
A source tells us Vermillion's 15-year-old daughter found her mother early Friday morning suffering from an apparent overdose of prescription drugs and alcohol.
Vermillion has been at the center of a huge controversy surrounding the charity she founded, Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, and her turbulent five-year relationship with County Commissioner Steve Sisolak.
Vermillion was taken to St. Rose Sienna Hospital on Friday and released on Tuesday.
The news came on the same day the Clark County Commission was supposed to decide whether to cut grant funds to the homeless youth charity Vermillion founded. Right now, that decision is on hold.
