Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Contact 13 has confirmed that Kathleen Vermillion and the homeless youth charity she founded have parted ways.
Vermillion, a former Henderson City Councilwoman, is under investigation by the Nevada Attorney General for allegedly misappropriating funds from the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, while she was the charity's chief operating officer.
On Monday, a NPHY spokesperson told Action News Vermillion is no longer employed there, but no one would elaborate.
Vermillion's financial improprieties are just part of the reason she's embroiled in controversy.
About a week after the attorney general received the complaint against here, she filed a defamation lawsuit against her ex boyfriend, Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak.
The suit accuses Sisolak of leaking her drug test results and having an improper relationship with her teenage daughter.
Sisolak in turn accused Vermillion, her lawyer and her PR man of extortion, which Metro is actively investigating.
