Hiker dies from fall at Red Rock Canyon
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A hiker is dead after a fall at Red Rock Canyon on Thursday afternoon.
Authorities said two men were in the Calico Basin area when one lost his footing and slipped, falling into a crevice at about 3 p.m.
The victim's friend called 911, and police sent rescue crews and a helicopter to attempt to save the fallen hiker. He could not be resuscitated.
The victim's identity has not been released.
The roads around the area where the victim fell were closed as authorities investigated into the evening.
