Gas prices climbing in Southern Nevada
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) - $3.40 is how much it will cost you to fill up for a gallon of regular in Southern Nevada according to AAA. But experts say now isn't when we typically see high prices. So what is fueling the spike?
AAA says gasoline demand is usually at its lowest in December and January. But worries that Iran could cut off exports from the Persian Gulf are causing the prices to push higher. According to AAA, A year ago Las Vegans were only paying $3.08 for a gallon of regular. But experts say the more gas stations there are, the more money that may end up staying in your pocket.
"If you have many gasoline stations within a short radius, you're going to see prices that are probably a little bit less than areas that have less competition," said Troy Green, AAA National Spokesman.
