Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Javier Righetti intends to plead not guilty in the mutilation slaying of 15-year-old Alyssa Otremba and a sex attack involving another teenage girl.

Righetti is due to face a judge Thursday for the first time since prosecutors announced they'll seek to have him executed. His lawyer says he'll plead not guilty.

Righetti is accused of stabbing 15-year-old Alyssa Otremba more than 80 times late Sept. 2, and of kidnapping, robbing and sexually attacking the other girl last March.

Otremba's charred body was found Sept. 3 not far from Arbor View High School and her northwest Las Vegas home.

Prosecutors allege Righetti carved letters into Otremba's body and he told police he'd committed rapes since he was 12.
