Police identify woman arrested after Walmart shooting

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Police have identified the woman involved in an alleged credit card fraud that ended in gunfire at a local Walmart early Friday morning. 

Police said the woman is 25-year-old Carrie Helene Reed of Las Vegas.

Reed was arrested for burglary with intent to commit a felony, attempted theft and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Police were called to the Walmart store on South Rainbow Boulevard early Friday morning after reports came in that a man and woman were trying to buy items with a fraudulent credit card.

When police arrived, employees directed them to the two people. As the officers approached, police said the man pulled out a handgun from his wasteband and fired rounds, hitting one of the officers.

The remaining officers returned fire, striking and disabling the man.

The gunman and the officer were taken to University Medical Center, where the gunman was pronounced dead.

The police officer survived and was expected to fully recover.
