Inmate murders cell mate at Clark County Detention Center
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- An inmate murdered his cell mate at the Clark County Detention Center early Friday morning, according to police.
Police said a corrections officer was conducting a routine bed check at about 1:20 a.m. when he found an inmate unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from apparent head trauma.
C.C.D.C. personnel attempted to revive him, but the inmate was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said homicide investigators determined that the inmate had become involved in a fight with his cell mate. During the fight, his cell mate allegedly beat him and stabbed him with a pencil.
Police identified the suspect as Carl Guilford, who is accused of killing his nephew, claiming 'the devil made me do it.'
Guilford is expected to be charged with murder for the death of his cell mate.
