A local veteran is fighting with vandals after his home was stained with graffiti and his tires were slashed Monday near Boulder Highway and Tropicana Avenue.

Don Smith, who served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, said he feels like he's going to war after vandals attacked his home.

"This is sad. I mean why are they picking on me," Smith said.

This incident is hard for Smith who is a veteran suffering from post traumatic stress disorder.

"I'm on a stipend every month, so, I don't make a lot of money. I barely get by so this is going to cost me out the Ying Yang," Smith said.

An insurance company came out to price the damage on Smith's home, but a new set of tires will cost him nearly $1,400. But this car isn't about money, it's about memories.

"The car I got from a veteran who was deployed overseas and he did not make it home," Don said.

Las Vegas police are currently investigating the vandalism.
