Students gathered at UNLV on Monday night to remember those who died or were injured during the mass shooting on Oct. 1 on the Las Vegas Strip.

Approximately 1,000 people attended the vigil, filling the amphitheater at UNLV near the student union.

The vigil included several minutes of silence.

Dozens hung around long after the vigil was over, talking and hugging each other.

UNLV's president told Action News that there will be other events like the vigil throught the week to give students the change to bond and talk about what they are going through after the mass shooting.

Many of the students that we talked to told us they didn't know exactly how to feel and even felt guilty if they smiled about anything during the day.
