UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Jeremy Bowling of Shelbyville, Kentucky.
ORIGINAL STORY:
An inmate is dead after a fight inside a Clark County Detention Center Cell Saturday evening.
At 5:34 p.m. a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department corrections officer discovered an inmate down in his cell, bleeding from his head. Medical crews transported the inmate to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
An investigation by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicated there was a physical altercation between the inmate and 33-year-old Franklin Sharp, thus resulting in the victim's multiple substantial injuries.
Sharp is currently facing charges of attempted grand larceny and attempted burglary. He has been re-booked for one count of open murder.
The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroners Office.
