Henderson man hit by vehicle while walking dogs has died

A 51-year-old Henderson man who was hit by a vehicle while walking his dogs on Feb. 4 has died.

The man was crossing Sunset Road with his dogs when he was struck by a 2016 Honda CR-V, traveling westbound on Sunset Road around 3:50 a.m. The driver of the vehicle, 81-year-old Cappy Kina of Henderson, was not injured and remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The pedestrian was crossing the road outside of a crosswalk when he was hit. He was transported to Sunrise Hospital.

In addition, one of his dogs was also hit and did not survive.

The name of the man has not been released.

The man’s death is the first traffic accident related fatality and the first involving a pedestrian this year. Last year in Henderson there were 12 traffic accident related fatalities with four of them being pedestrians.
