A valley police department is looking for some new recruits.

A few officers with the Henderson Police Department just got back from some training in Utah. It was for humans and canines.

"They become a part of our family because they go home with us at night and it's our job to take care of them," said officer Kevin Grant with the Henderson Police Department.

After this latest training, Henderson has seven canines. By next summer they plan to have ten.

These dogs can sniff out evidence as well as find and take down bad guys.

Henderson has done so well at their out-of-state training, the department has three judges. These are officers who make the final call whether a canine and his partner are ready for the field.

Officer Grant is a judge. He works with a dog named Drake.

"It's the most rewarding job there is," said Grant.
