Doctors warn against teens wearing shapewear
(KTNV) -- A warning for parents whose teens are using the popular Spanx products or any other kind of shapewear.
Doctors say that the fashion trend could be taking a toll on their health.
Moms often use the tight-fitting undergarments in an effort to look slimmer. But now the shapewear products that were designed for women are gaining in popularity with teenagers.
According to health professionals, these products can cause health problems in younger people.
Problems can include bladder infections, gastrointestinal problems and significant nerve damage resulting in numbness and burning in the thighs.
And that is not all.
Child psychiatrists worry teenagers obsessed with creating the illusion of a flat stomach are setting themselves up for a host of psychological problems.
