Fiscal decisions looming
Still no decision on a list of tax hikes and spending cuts as time runs out for lawmakers to take action on Capitol Hill.
Unless an agreement is reached, a half-trillion dollars in tax hikes and spending cuts will be triggered in January. Many experts worry that 'taxmageddon', as it's been nicknamed, will spark a fiscal emergency that could shove the economy back into recession.
Many lawmakers believe any action will be postponed until next year, so newly elected politicians can deal with it.
