Las Vegas police investigated a fatal crash Tuesday afternoon just north of downtown Las Vegas.

The crash was reported around 3 p.m. near Main Street and Owens Avenue involving a pedestrian and one vehicle.

Police said that the 57-year-old pedestrian of Las Vegas was standing on the corner of the intersection waiting to cross the street while a Ford box truck was stopped at a red light. When the traffic signal turned green, the box truck started to travel northbound at the same time the pedestrian apparently fainted or passed out and fell onto the roadway. He was then hit by the box truck.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene. His identity will be released by the Clark County coroner.

The driver of the box truck remained on scene and did not show any signs of impairment.

This is the 30th traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas police's jurisdiction in 2017.
