UPDATE APRIL 21: Two people have been arrested in the attack of a woman at her front door earlier this month.
Issac Almaguer was arrested on charges of battery with a deadly weapon with substantial bodily harm, conspiracy and burglary while Jamie Olivas was charged with conspiracy.
When police responded to the woman's home on April 9, they found the woman laying on the floor in the living room bleeding from the head. Initial reports had said she was shot but it was later determined she was struck in the head with an object.
The woman was admitted to the hospital with facial fractures, head trauma and eye injuries, according to police.
The woman's grandson told police that he was in the back room of the house when he heard a knock on the door and his grandmother answered. According to the arrest report, a man asked for the grandson but his grandmother said he wasn't there.
Eventually, the two people at the door left. Her grandson then found his grandmother lying on the floor bleeding from the head.
According to the arrest report, her grandson had been dating Olivas while her boyfriend, Almaguer, was in jail. The grandson told police Almaguer had recently been released and was upset about his relationship with Olivas.
Las Vegas police say a 65-year-old woman suffered substantial injuries after she opened her door to an attacker on April 9.
It happened at about 6:50 p.m. at a residence in the 200 block of Pershing Drive, which is near Alta Drive and Jones Boulevard.
Police say that the woman was struck with some sort of weapon or object. They do not believe it was a gun.
The woman was transported to UMC Trauma and her current condition is unknown.
No one has been arrested at this time but police do not believe it was a completely random attack. They believe that the attacker and the woman knew each other.
Nothing was taken from the home and the police are investigating the attack as a battery.
