Man arrested in Mohave County homicide

UPDATE: Mohave County Sheriff's detectives arrested 24-year-old Buddy O'Brian Wallace, of Yucca, Ariz., Oct. 16 on charges of first degree murder.

Wallace was taken into custody without incident at a business in Lake Havasu City.

Police determined that Wallace and the victim, Charles McCarty, were acquaintances. McCarty died of multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck. The weapon was not recovered. 

McCarty's stolen vehicle was found last Tuesday near railroad tracks in Yucca.

ORIGINAL STORY

Mohave County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the homicide of a 70-year-old man.

Deputies were dispatched to a welfare check around 8:43 a.m. Monday in Yucca, southwest of Kingman. The reporting party told officials he was checking on his friend and found him slumped over his kitchen table and covered in blood.  Upon arrival, deputies found Charles John McCarty, 70, deceased at the scene.

The Sheriff's Office is investigating the death as a homicide. Someone last spoke to McCarty on Sunday.
 
During the investigation, deputies and detectives determined a vehicle belonging to McCarty was missing. An attempt to locate was issued for a green 1997 Dodge Ram half-ton extended cab truck with an Arizona Purple Heart license plate of PH9A12.
