Man faces arson charge after Las Vegas firefighters initially called for medical response

A man faces an arson charge after Las Vegas firefighters found a fire set in a residence during what had started as a medical response call.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Arson Investigators arrested 25-year-old Duane Smith Saturday morning and charged him with one count of arson in the first degree. The suspect is being held in the Clark County Detention Center.
 
Firefighters were first called to a residence for a possible medical response to a home on Woven Sands Street, near Durango Drive and U.S. 95, at 11:34 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they did not find a medical response, they did find what appeared to be a fire was set in the residence.  Firefighters requested arson investigators to respond.
 
Arson investigators talked to Smith who was in the residence and later arrested him.
 
The incident remains under investigation. Las Vegas Fire & Rescue reported that investigators are not releasing any information about the incident at this time.
 
There were no injuries in connection with the incident.
