A wife's search for justice one month after husband killed in Henderson

Latest: A month has passed since Christopher Stewart was fatally gunned down.  Police are still searching for the shooting suspect.

"I wish he was still here," said Maria Stewart.

Maria was married to Christopher for over 26 years.

"I can't sleep on my bed because every time I see the bed, I see him," she said.

Stewart, a hard-working driver, was born and raised in Las Vegas.

Maria and Christopher got married in 1990.  The couple raised four children together. 

The Stewart family is urging anyone with information to come forward. 

They said they need closure in order to begin the healing process. 

"Took the life of someone that was such a good person," she said.

Maria wears her husband's wedding band around her neck.

"I just want him to be close to me," she said, "it just symbolizes the love that we had for each other."

UPDATE: The Clark County Coroner identified the victim of the early morning shooting as 49-year-old Christopher Stewart from Henderson.

According to Stewart's family, the father was picking up a to-go order at The Bar Monday morning before heading home. 

He is described as a father of four who leaves behind six grandchildren and a wife. 

Henderson police canvassed the neighborhood near Anthem and Bicentennial Parkways Tuesday to try and gather any information from surrounding homeowners.

HENDERSON (KTNV) -- Henderson police detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in gathering information in connection with the shooting of a 49-year-old Henderson man.
 
At 3:53 a.m. Monday, Henderson police dispatchers received a 911 call from a man who said he had been shot. While dispatchers were on the line with the man, he crashed his vehicle into a light pole near Anthem and Bicentennial parkways. He was transported to St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Siena Campus, where he succumbed to his injuries.
 
Detectives believe the man was at The Bar, located at 11624 Bermuda Road, until approximately 3:45 a.m. He was traveling in a 2012 four-door black Ford Focus headed to Anthem Highlands possibly on Volunteer Boulevard, Executive Airport Drive or Anthem Parkway. Investigators are seeking information from anyone who may have seen the vehicle between 3:45 a.m. and 4 a.m.
 
This is an ongoing investigation and more details will be released as they become available.
 
The name of the man will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office once he has been positively identified and his family has been notified.
