UPDATE ON MARCH 16: Closing arguments wrapped up Thursday in the trial of former MMA fighter War Machine.

He's accused of brutally assaulting his ex-girlfriend and another man.

The final witness to testify was the ER doctor who treated Christy Mack when she was rushed to the hospital in August 2014.

She suffered a broken nose, lost teeth, fractured rib, broken facial bones, and a damaged liver.

When the ER doctor was talking about her liver, he compared it to one you would see after a terrible car crash.

In closing arguments, the prosecution again showed the graphic pictures of the injuries Mack and Thomas received and said Mack was in a cycle of abuse for 15 months.

In a surprise move, the defense actually ceded some of the battery charges War Machine is accused of, blaming them on "roid rage" and the couple's rocky relationship.

But they also argued there was no evidence for the more severe charges, including kidnapping and attempted murder. They said as an MMA fighter, if he really wanted to kill Mack, he would have. They argued he only wanted to scare her.

War Machine could face life in prison if convicted. Jury deliberations start Friday morning.

The Associated Press usually doesn't identify alleged victims of sexual assault, but Mack gave AP permission to use her name. Her legal name is Christine Mackinday.

Koppenhaver has pleaded not guilty to 34 felony charges also including kidnapping, battery, sexual assault and coercion in the alleged attack on Mack and a man she dated, Corey Thomas.

Koppenhaver is now 35. He could face life in prison without parole if he's convicted.
