ORIGINAL STORY

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating its 10th officer-involved shooting of the year after a shootout at a residence near Bookbinder Drive and Lake Mead Boulevard.

Police responded to reports of a shooting around 9:41 p.m. Saturday. Officers at the scene found a woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She told them a shooting took place at a nearby residence and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers then went to a home in the 1900 block of Bookbinder Drive, where an armed man and a 4-year-old girl were inside. The man fired several shots from the residence before crews were able to get inside.

The LVMPD SWAT Team entered the home around midnight and began to take gunfire from the suspect. Officers fired back, striking the suspect. He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The 4-year-old child was rescued by the SWAT Team and was uninjured.

Officers believe the incident began as a domestic dispute.
