Crash involving Nevada Highway Patrol caught on camera

A crash involving a Nevada Highway Patrol car on Sept. 25 was caught on camera.

On Sept. 25. at 12:02 p.m., a Nevada Highway Patrol car was stopped at a red light on Russell Road in the left turn lane. In the dashcam footage, you can clearly see that when the trooper's light turns green, the trooper begins her left turn to enter the 215 southbound on-ramp.  

As the trooper turned, a white 2001 Honda Accord, driven by a 27-year-old man, ignored the red traffic light and crashed into the patrol car. The dash camera footage shows the force of the impact on the trooper's patrol vehicle at approximately 45 mph.

The trooper was transported to UMC Trauma where she was treated and released a few hours later.  

The driver of the Honda was uninjured and did not require medical assistance. He showed no signs of impairment and was issued a traffic citation for failure to obey a traffic signal.
