A valley family says all their belongings are lost after they moved from New York to Las Vegas, and they're now out thousands of dollars.

Back in August, Mark and Stacia Legate made the move across the country. They've moved several times over the years, always using a UHaul, but this time opted for a moving company because they have a 2-year-old-daughter and thought using movers would be easier.

They went with a broker based out of Florida and paid them a deposit. That company, in turn, hired a New Jersey-based company to pick up their belongings.

"That was the last we saw of it," Stacia says.

They put their stuff into storage while they looked for a place to live in Vegas. But when it came time to actually deliver their belongings, they didn't answer the phone.

Now, calls to the company go to voicemail. It's also difficult to reach the original company. After being hung up on one extension, we reached dispatch. They told us they have also not been able to reach the movers and didn't even know where their belongings are being stored.

Legate says it's been a complicated process because they had a broker as an intermediary and weren't dealing directly with the company. The broker says they no longer plan to use that company.

Meanwhile, the family is out the $3,000 they paid, plus the value of all their belongings. They say those include priceless memories, including Stacia's wedding dress, and other family heirlooms.

At this point, they say they have no idea if they'll ever get their stuff back. They're working on getting a laywer, but so far none will take their case.
