Something was bugging a Henderson man this summer. It was his exterminator. He didn't feel he was getting what he paid for. So he tried to cancel the service.

But when that didn't work, he reached out to Contact 13's Call For Action for help.

"My voice was getting loud. My wife told me to calm down. Calm down," said Owen Chisley.

Things got heated with his exterminator. It was back in July, when he hired a new company that came to his door.

"I said well I already got an exterminator. He said well what price is he charging? So I gave him the price. He said well we can beat that," Chisley said.

His old exterminator was charging him $35 a month to spray inside and out. But this new company was willing to do it for $29. Chisley took the offer. But during the very first service call, he found out the offer had changed.

"He said we come every 3 months and it's $89. I said that's not what I asked for," Chisley said.

He called a manager, and was told he could cancel, but he had to pay a $199 termination fee. Chisley said no way. He didn't have a contract with the company, so he didn't feel he owed them a dime.

Our Call For Action volunteers reached out to the company. That's when they called Chisley back and changed their tune.

"He said well it's a misunderstanding. We'll take care of it," Chisley said.

The bill was dropped, and now he doesn't owe the company a thing. Chisley couldn't be happier.

So here's the Contact 13 bottom line. When dealing with any regular service, make sure you understand their policies, especially for cancelling. Get everything in writing if you can.
