It was tension-filled Clark County School District Board of Trustees meeting Thursday evening.
An item related to firing employees was yanked off the agenda causing further tension between the superintendent and trustees as there continues to be opposition to the district's mandated reorganization.
Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky said he and his staff were blind-sided.
"We had no knowledge of your intent. You didn't share it with me,” he said. “You didn’t share it with your board president and other board officers when you put the items on the agenda."
The agenda item was submitted by Trustee Chris Garvey and seen by some as a move to remove Skorkowsky and his support staff.
Garvey fired back that her intentions were misread.
“I just wanted to let individuals know that my intent for these were not any kind of threat of terminating people's employment,” said Garvey. “Or firing someone or changing their benefits in anyway.”
As other trustees made a plea for greater transparency and cooperation, the bickering did not go unnoticed.
John Vellardita, of the Clark County Education Association, spoke during the public comment portion of the meeting.
"I have to tell you this is not a good track record,” Vellardita said. “915 employees have left the school district since the start of the school year and we have 450 vacancies.”
