Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak is expected to officially declare his candidacy for governor on Thursday, according to the Nevada Independent.
He also posted a tease about an "exciting announcement" on his website.
Sisolak, who is a Democrat, will be the first major candidate to formally announce a gubernatorial bid. It has also been rumored that Nevada's Attorney General Adam Laxalt may also run.

The popular Republican governor, Brian Sandoval, can not run for another term.
Sisolak is well known for speaking out on various issues and was a key figure on the panel that laid the groundwork to bring the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas.
Sisolak said in January that we had $3.8 million to use for a campaign.
