A thief targeted a family-owned business in the middle of a busy mall.

Several days ago, three people walked into Bayside Watch at Meadows Mall all at once. One man went right for the cash register. On the surveillance video, you can see him take out cash and pocket it.

"People are bold these days. They're not scared," said Sal Quassani, the store's owner.

The shop attendant was over in a corner talking to some customers while the theft was happening several feet away at the register.

The thief got away with a few hundred dollars. That's a lot of money for this mom and pop shop.

"We do 12 hours a day. We're a small-time family business so we put the man hours. So it's our hard-earned money that's being taken away from us," Quassani said.

This theft happened at their oldest of two valley locations. They've been inside Meadows Mall for more than a decade. Yet it only took seconds to suffer a major setback.

"Every dollar counts, I mean, every dollar goes towards something," Quassani said.
