A Henderson apartment complex is dealing with a major bed bug infestation. One woman says it’s become unbearably painful to deal with.

Fed up with management at the complex, she spoke to 13 Action News with the hope that it would get their attention.

At 78 years old, Antoinette Galante is covered in scars. She claims multiple apartments at Gold Crest Senior living are infested with bed bugs. She calls it a slum.

"My arm is swollen,” Galante said. "I never had to go through anything like this. I'm always cleaning and cleaning. Sometimes you can't even breathe from all the stuff I use: bleach, alcohol, and vinegar."

She said the marks began appearing about two weeks ago.

"I had it in my ear, and I had it in my nose."

According to Galante, the property manager finally scheduled an extermination after days of complaining. However, Galante said it doesn't make up for the pain and suffering she and many others have endured.

"You know what, let me tell you something,” she said. “This is my furniture, okay? They should get us all new furniture. Replace our clothes.”

Even though she's on the list to have her apartment treated, she says management's lack of urgency is insulting. We wanted to give the manager a chance to tell her side. Her car was in front of her apartment, but she never came to the door.

"They know it so they tell you to move,” Galante said. “You don't like it? Move! They don't care.”

When we called the manager, she said she was home, but in her bed sick for nearly two months trying to do the best she can.

"I want new management,” Galante said. “She keeps saying I'm sick. I'm in the hospital. She's sick. She's sick."

Galante’s apartment is set to be exterminated next week, but she doesn't believe that'll be enough. She says there are so many infested units, the only way to fix the problem is by taking care of every single unit in the complex at once. She promises to keep us updated.
