Yelp is hosting a series of "Yelp Helps" events in August, celebrating Las Vegas' volunteers and non-profits.
On Wednesday, August 1, there will be a kickoff at The Neapolitan adult ice cream bar at the Cosmopolitan. The resort will donate $5 to Communities In Schools, for every attendee who RSVPs on Yelp in advance. Attendees are also encouraged to bring new children's toys, to donate to CIS for their monthly birthday parties for children in need. The event runs from 6-8 pm. Several other group volunteer events are planned throughout the month, including:
Sat, Aug 4th, 4:30-6:30pm: Serve A Meal At The Las Vegas Rescue Mission
Sun, Aug 12th, 9:00-11:00am: Clean Books For Spread The Word Nevada
Sat, Aug 18th, 8:00-11:00am: Deliver Food Pantry Packages for Helping Hands of Vegas Valley
Sat, Aug 25th, 6:00pm-1:30am: Staff AFAN's Black And White Party
There are over 8,000 nonprofit organizations in Nevada according to the National Center for Charitable Statistics. "Yelp Helps" aims to raise awareness of the local groups and let locals know how they can support their efforts.
