Habitat's Builders Blitz
During the week of June 4-8, 2012, Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas will build a house from the ground up in just five days as part of Habitat for Humanity's Home Builders Blitz 2012. This nationwide project seeks to build and renovate 250 homes simultaneously around the country during a week-long "blitz build."
Habitat Las Vegas is partnering with the local construction and business community to build a home in the Vegas Heights neighborhood, on land donated by the City of Las Vegas. Subcontractors and volunteers will work around the clock throughout the week during the Blitz Build to complete construction and create awareness about the need for affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization in Las Vegas. The homeowner family will receive the keys to their new home in a Dedication Ceremony and Celebration on Friday, June 8 at 6PM at 910 Miller Ave, Las Vegas 89106.
"We are thrilled to participate in the national Home Builders Blitz for the first time this year," said Roger Cooper, director of development and construction for Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas. "We've received a tremendous amount of support from volunteers, sponsors, and local business partners to help ensure success of our most ambitious build yet."
The home will be built through a generous donation and financial support from Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and PCL Construction. Local construction partners supporting the 2012 Blitz Build include Aristotle Electric, JT Maintenance Inc., RW Masonry, NRC Concrete & Landscape, Cooper Roofing and Solar, Platinum Plastering Inc., Premier Door&Trim, Creative Touch Interiors, A&H Painting & Drywall, The Countertop Shop, Sierra Air Conditioning, Aqua Plumbing LLC, Western States Framing, M-Con Inc., Apache Electric, Terra Contracting, and Barricade Company.
