Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- As many people know, education budgets are tighter than ever, making school fundraising efforts even more important.

With the hard work of dedicated parents, school administrators and teachers, schools in the Las Vegas Area raised close to $200,000 through Fresh & Easy's Shop for Schools program.

Dr. Carey Roybal-Benson from Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School made an appearance on Good Morning Las Vegas to talk about the accomplishments of local schools through the program.

Kindergarten through eighth grade schools located within a three-mile radius of any Fresh & Easy store are eligible to participate in the program.

Schools received $1 for every $20 spent at a Fresh & Easy store from Sept. 12 through Dec. 31, 2012 through receipt collection.

The school from Nevada that raised the most money also received a $5,000 bonus.

The program raised $2.1 million in California, Nevada and Arizona.
