MAKING LAS VEGAS A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE
Boy gives instead of receiving on his birthday
Boulder City, NV (KTNV) -- A Boulder City boy spends his birthday collecting coats and blankets for the homeless. Blaze Trumble is making Las Vegas a better place to live.
Mom Frannie Trumble says, "I don't think it's something we're doing. I think it's Blaze himself. He has a big heart. We call him an old soul. He's meant to do great things."
On his sixth birthday, Blaze didn't want a birthday party. Instead, he kept telling his parents he wanted to help the homeless. And he's been doing it ever since. Blaze says, "I always used to drive by the homeless shelter so I thought of the idea to help people with this stuff." The entire family helps -- mom, dad, even older brother Donnie. And so do complete strangers who donate their coats and blankets at drop sites all over Boulder City and Las Vegas. Dad Don Trumble says, "Every year. Every year I get nervous about whether we'll have enough. And just today I'm glad the trailor is full. I didn't think there would be half that much." Another birthday wish fulfilled just in time for Blaze's tenth. He delivered all of the coats earlier this week and looks forward to celebrating his 11th birthday the same way.
