MAKING LAS VEGAS A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE
Program in honor of UNLV dance team member educates young people
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- She was a light to her friends and to the young women that she danced with at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Lindsay Bennett was killed by a drunk driver on her way home from practice with the Rebel Girl dance team.
Two weeks after her death, the men's basketball coach at the time -- Lon Kruger -- called her parents and said that he wanted to start a program in her memory.
LB3 or the Lindsay Bennett memorial fund was born. Fans are invited to pledge money for every three-point shot scored by the men's basketball team during Runnin' Rebel games.
The money is used for a scholarship program aimed at teaching middle school students about the dangers of drunk driving.
The Runnin' Rebels will take the court tonight against Jacksonville State at the Thomas & Mack Center.
More information about the program can be found here.
