Personal drones becoming more and more popular
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Drones are widely used by the military but now they are becoming more available to the public.
There are little drones that you can control with your smart phone -- they cost about $200 -- and then there are much more advanced models.
The ones called quadrocopters can be rigged with cameras that weigh several pounds and be used to get aerial shots.
More and more filmmakers are shelling out thousands of dollars for the quadrocopters that they can used to fly higher than a thousand feet and go father than a mile.
But right now, the Federal Aviation Administration is being very cautious. They are only issuing a handful of licenses and prohibiting the use of drone aircraft for commercial purposes.
The FAA is promising to relax the guidelines for personal use of drones by the end of the year.
