Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The of the best high school dance teams in the nation is from right here, in Henderson.

The team from Foothill High School is working hard to dazzle audiences. Leading up to Nationals, the Foothill High School varsity dance squad practiced five hours a day, six days a week.

Hailey is a dancer on the team. She says, "Dance helps me focus and I get good grades because of dance."

It's that kind of focus that helped these girls climb to fourth place in the UDA National Dance team championships in Florida. The highest this team has ever placed.

Kaylee says, "Coming off the stage, we knew we couldn't have done any better.  We were just happy for ourselves."
Cassidy told us, "It's super intense at Nationals. But we stayed focused."

Coach Lana Carey hopes bringing home the trophy will help raise awareness about her athletes. Simply put, they worked their tails off.

"I feel like dance, people don't realize you're an athlete. The girls train every day. lift weights, run, and the discipline in dance is what makes it so different from anything else."

The girls placed fourth of 65 teams in the small varsity hip hop category, causing the dance community across the nation to pay attention to what's happening here.

Vicky told us,  "Vegas isn't known for dance.  Now the foothill dance team is on the map."
