Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Now there's a bigger, newer Goodwill Store in North Las Vegas. But this grand opening meant more than good discounts to a few Las Vegans.

After 16 years in the same spot, the Goodwill Nellis location has moved. It's new home is bigger and more convenient for shoppers.

And more space, means more staff to run the store. "I came across Goodwill and they changed my life," said Sarah Wagner. She is one of eight new hires at the relocated Goodwill on Nellis Boulevard near Stewart. Previously unemployed for two years, Sarah can now take care of her family.

"I am a mother of two and my fiance unfortunately is stuck out in California so we're working to get him out here. So this really presented as a great opportunity to get us back on our feet," she said.

Not only does Goodwill help to create jobs through their stores. Here in Southern Nevada proceeds from the sale of items in here help fund two Career Connections locations in the valley.

Last year, Goodwill of Southern Nevada helped a record 18 hundred people find employment through its Career Connections program.

"This is about improving people's quality of life and giving them the opportunity to really earn," said Steve Chartrand, CEO of Goodwill Southern Nevada.

So look at it this way, when you're donating that old box of old clothes or set of pots and pans, you could be helping someone back to work.

There are two Goodwill Career Connections locations in the valley. One is located on Cheyenne at MLK and the second on East Tropicana at Pecos.
