Residents say concrete wall where driver died has been hit before
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A local man is dead and another is seriously injured after crashing their car into a block wall.
Police say the car lost control around 3:30 Monday morning on Flamingo near Decatur, crashing through a concrete wall and landing in someone's backyard.
The car came smashing into the wall with such force is sent cinder-block flying back several feet.
It almost looks like a wrecking ball came barreling through and neighbors say it's not the first time this has happened.
“All of the sudden I said, oh, here goes the wall again!” said neighbor Marjorie Holley.
The twisted metal and shattered glass that was once a Lincoln Continental sat in pieces on Flamingo, as officers were forced to close the busy street for several hours, investigating the deadly crash.
The driver was pronounced dead on the scene; the passenger was also pronounced dead but was later revived at University Medical Center.
Neighbors say that stretch of Flamingo is filled with dangerous drivers.
“They're drunk,” said Holley, “They're coming up from the casinos are they're drunk. They need to patrol this area more. Flamingo is very bad.”
No one appeared to be inside the home at the time the car came crashing into the back yard.
At last check, the surviving passenger was listed in critical condition.
