Man finds dead woman in dumpster, family devastated
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Family members of a young woman are devastated to find out their sister is dead, and they are sick over the callous way her body was disposed of.
The Clark County Coroner identified the woman found as 28-year old Josephine "Josy" Butler.
Butler’s family said she would call her 7-year old daughter every night to say their prayers, but after she went two nights in a row without calling, they became concerned and filed a missing persons report.
The next day a homicide detective showed up on their front door letting them know that Josy was dead and she had been found at the bottom of a dumpster.
"To find out that my sister got dumped in a dumpster is the worst feeling in the world," said brother Eric Newman.
Police say Butler died of non-natural causes.
Gene Hawk says he found her body in the alley dumpster behind his store near Craig and Nellis. Hawk says Butler was wrapped in a blanket and stuffed inside a duffle bag.
"It wasn’t an accident," said Hawk. "Somebody killed her. Somebody must have killed her."
Butler's brother said the most devastating part of this was telling his 7-year old niece how her mother died.
The Clark County Coroner is waiting for the toxicology report before releasing a cause of death.
