A 19-year-old man has announced his plans to run for mayor of Henderson.

Angelo Gomez says he wants to bring change to the city of Henderson.

The Henderson native is a big supporter of President Donald Trump and worked for his election campaign.

If Gomez wins, he would be the youngest mayor that Henderson has ever elected.

Gomez says he's running on platform of bringing the community together. He also say he wants to see Henderson improve its infrastructure.

"Just really speaking with anyone I can and anyone I connect with and anyone who's willing to listen and so far not a single person I've met said they won't vote for me," he said.

Gomez is currently a political science major at UNLV, but says if he's elected he'll scale back his classes so he can focus on being mayor full time.

He's running against 5 other candidates in the April election. If no candidate receives a majority of the vote, the top two candidates will face off in June.
