If Officer James Clayton is accused of grossly abusing the power of his badge, the accusations themselves are just plain gross.
One woman who got a ticket from Clayton for driving without a registration says while sitting in his patrol car he opened his pants and asked her to look.
"Anytime there are allegations of this type against a police officer, all police officers suffer a little in their heart," said North Las Vegas Police Spokesman Sgt. Tim Bedwell.
The complaints against Clayton came in throughout the spring and summer and made their way to police through a number of different channels.
Investigators report that one complaint was even fielded by a dispatcher who's supervisor is Clayton's wife, working for the North Las Vegas Police. She confronted him and reported it.
When police investigated, a 19 - year-old woman told them Clayton suggested they "make out" while reminding her he could write her a $190.00 ticket.
Police say women were often slow to report the incidents.
"They have fears that the police culture will surround and protect that police officer. And we battle that all the time. Because what we want the public to know is, we can only be as good as you help us be," Bedwell said.
Perhaps the most heinous allegation come when Clayton is responding to a domestic violence call. Under the pretext of checking for bruises, the woman reported that Clayton ask her to open her dress, and then told her she was hot.
And she complied she said, because he was a cop in uniform.
