Layoffs Hit Atlantic City Casinos

Updated:

New Jersey, like Las Vegas, is also taking a hit because of the economy.

Harrah's has laid off workers at its four casinos in Atlantic City.

Monday, Tropicana Entertainment released its plans for emerging from bankruptcy and restructuring boardwalk properties.

Pinnacle Entertainment had big plans for this empty lot where the sands used to be.

Now, it says it could be years before development begins.

"It will recover when the economy recovers. We see no catalysts for growth in Atlantic City in the foreseeable future, it is just a tough time for this industry right now," said Joe Wienert.

Across the board, the gaming industry has seen better days.
