Staycation deals right here at home

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority told us right now is probably the best time ever to get the best value for your money to vacation in the greater Las Vegas area. That's especially true for locals.

We decided to put that statement to the test.

Loews Lake Las Vegas is a four star hotel with beautiful views of both lake and desert, with swimming pools, spa, and golf course. And if you're a local, you can stay there on a Saturday night for about sixty bucks cheaper than the guy out of town.

"We have rates starting at $99 during the week, $119 on weekends, and we have kids eat free programs," General Manager of Loews Lake Las Vegas, Brian Johnson says.

If you're on Facebook the deal is even better. Just become a fan and you can get day of, dirt cheap rates.

"We're doing standby staycations day of, where you can get rates as low as $79 just for becoming a fan of Lake Las Vegas," Johnson says.

If you want a good deal on the strip, you want to look at Sunday through Thursday rates. At Monte Carlo they average fifty bucks a night. New York, New York $57, and Planet Hollywood averages $55 a night.

While higher end resorts can go from $150 to $200 a night. And those are just rates we found online.

The best local deals are most often found off the strip.

"I think its awesome, I think its amazing, it gives us a really great opportunity to see what everybody has to offer," local Stephanie Brown says.

Because a staycation, is better than no vacation at all.

One thing you do need to remember about booking some of these deals, is they don't always include resort fees or taxes. Those can easily tack on another twenty bucks or so to your bill. That's standard for resorts, so just check so you're not surprised when the bill comes.
