Two Smith's stores still selling recalled Pringles

Updated:

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) - Some valley stores are selling food items that may be contaminated with salmonella. Contact 13 took a hidden camera inside a number of grocery stores and found food included in a recent recall on the shelves.

Now, the Southern Nevada Health District is getting involved.

Doris Lauer is a loyal Smith's shopper. She was surprised to learn the grocery store is still selling taco night flavored Pringles, that may contain salmonella.

"I think they should take it off the shelf, take it out of the store if it's going to make somebody sick," said Lauer.

The chips and other items are included in a nationwide recall that traces back to North Las Vegas.

Last month, a Food and Drug Administration inspection found the potentially deadly salmonella bacteria at basic food flavors, incorporated.

They make a flavoring ingredient used in these Pringles. The chips were supposed to be pulled from store shelves on March 8th, the day the recall was issued.

Contact 13's hidden camera found them at two Smith's locations. So Contact 13 brought the findings to the Southern Nevada Health District.

Steven Goode says his office is now taking action.

"I will take the address of the specific facility and send inspectors out to verify that they are still out there on the shelves," said Goode.

Contact 13 also reached out to Smith's for a comment. They sent a statement which reads, "Our stores work diligently to quickly remove any recalled food item from our shelves, including the items listed in this latest massive recall. We take this seriously and are revisiting the removal of that particular item with all of our Las Vegas stores."

In fairness, Contact 13 did notice that some Smith's stores had already removed the recalled chips.

The Contact 13 bottom line is fortunately there have been no reported illnesses due to this recall.

If you notice recalled food on the shelves, notify a store manager immediately.

Then report it to the Southern Nevada Health District by calling 702 - 759-1000.
