Senator Harry Reid's wife and daughter are recovering in a Washington, DC area hospital after a car accident. According to Jon Summers, Senator Reid's spokesman, Mrs. Landra Reid and Lana were driving when their vehicle was rear ended by a semi - truck earlier today.

Summers says Landra had a broken nose, broken back and broken neck. Lana, 48, had a neck injury and facial lacerations. Lana was released from the hospital Thursday night.

Landra underwent surgery Friday afternoon and it was successful. Doctors say she is not at risk of paralysis.

Virginia State Police say the driver of the truck, 59 year old Alan Snader, faces reckless driving charges.
