You Ask: Why cars were towed from lots near the Premium Outlets

Updated:

Viewers asked Action News to investigate why vehicles keep being towed from lots near the Premium Outlet mall. We received e-mails the day after Thanksgiving when several locals discovered their shopping trips were much more expensive than they anticipated.  Sherron Wheeler was among those who e-mailed us again when the mass-towing happened again after Christmas.

"$250 is a lot of money to have to come up with.  So I just thought that I would contact somebody to let them know that the community should be aware not to park anywhere outside of the outlet mall."

Sherron and others say they didn't see any no parking signs.  But Action News investigated and found, even though the blue and white "private property-towing" signs are hard to find, they are posted.

A spokesman for one property owner, Union Pacific, told Action News his company will look into making its signs more prominent, and a trade group representing local towing companies wants to hear from people who have been towed.  The Nevada Private Property Impound Association hosts a live, weekly radio show on 970 AM from 4 to 5 PM.  The phone number to call in is 702-735-6397.
