A federal judge has postponed a hearing on a lawsuit a woman filed against Gov. Jim Gibbons claiming she was fired because the governor believed she leaked information about personal messages sent from his state cell phone.
Mary Keating's case been scheduled to go before Judge Robert C. Jones in Reno on Friday. But Jones agreed to push the hearing back to March 12 because one of her lawyers was on vacation.
Keating, a 25-year state worker and certified public accountant, was working for Gibbons' budget director when she was fired last May after news broke about the governor's private text-messages to another woman.
Gibbons later apologized for the more than 800 texts and reimbursed the state $130.
Keating now works for the state controller overseeing accounting of federal stimulus money in Nevada.
